Karitane Reconciliation Action Plan

In light of National Close the Gap day, we are delighted to share that Reconciliation Australia has officially endorsed Karitane’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), highlighting our ongoing commitment to strengthening respectful relationships with First Nation communities.

Our Reflect RAP was developed in partnership with Reconciliation Australia and commits us, over the next year, to learning as an organisation, exploring partnerships in our sphere of influence, and enabling our staff to take practical, actionable steps to contribute to reconciliation. This is a significant and important commitment for our team and is the culmination of many linked arms to reach this milestone.

I would like to sincerely thank the Burbangana Group, Jenny Hutt and Karel Williams for their guidance and support, Kristina Taylor, who created the final design based on artwork inspired by a collection of individual mosaic tiles created by Aboriginal Artist, Shareen Clayton, children in Karitane’s Lil’ Possums Aboriginal playgroup and Bonnyrigg Public School, NSW. And members of the Karitane Reconciliation Action Plan Working Party who joined me in developing the plan: Angela Wood, Sharlene Vlahos, Lee Bratel, Lisa Taylor, Joanne Ramjan, Aunty Freda Simpson, Anne-Maree Corbridge, Kay Souter, Suzanne Calman, Sue Martin, Lisa Reeve and Gillian Onslow.

You can read or download our RAP here.
