Our Services
Having a baby is a huge change to your life. There may be times you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, but help is available.
What to Expect
Over the five days you’re enrolled, you can speak with child and family nurses and GP who will work in partnership with you to support you on your parenting. journey.
You will have planned sessions every day and 24-hour parenting support if you need to contact a nurse outside of these sessions. We welcome partners and other caregivers to join the sessions.
Day 1: Starts with a 1 to 1.5 hour individual virtual consultation with your Karitane child and family nurse. The nurse will complete assessments and talk about your goals. From there, you can set up more sessions with the nurse for that day. We aim to meet with you at least twice each day. You can also call the nurse outside of your scheduled sessions for extra support as needed.
Days 2 - 4: Each morning begins with an individual virtual consultation tailored just for you. In the afternoons, you’ll connect with your nurse and receive support whenever your baby’s routine changes. If you’d like to schedule a session with our GP, appointments are available on Wednesdays.
Day 5: You will have your last one-to-one virtual meeting with the nurse to finalise your discharge plan to assist with continuing with your parenting choices. Discharge will occur by 12pm.
The Karitane Virtual Residential Parenting Service is a confidential service funded by NSW Health. The service uses the NSW Health secure myVirtualCare platform. You will need reliable internet and your own personal device (preferable laptops and iPads/tablets) to access the service.
