What We Do

Becoming a parent is an exciting and challenging time and Karitane have been the leaders in parenting services since 1923. We provide support and education on the unique challenges of parenting to mums and dads with children from birth to 5 years of age. All our services are evidence based and delivered by a caring and highly trained professional team of child and family health nurses, paediatricians, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists offering complete holistic care. Karitane support new parents around sleep and settling, establishing routines, feeding and nutrition, toddler behaviour and pre and postnatal anxiety and depression. We are a registered charity, supported by the NSW Ministry of Health and the Department of Family & Community Services. In addition to our government funding, much of our work is thanks to donations from individuals and organisations.

How We Help Parents

Our caring healthcare professionals guide, support and educate families through our Parenting Centres, Residential Services, Mental Health Centres, specialised Toddler Clinics (now available via the internet), Early Parenting Store, Virtual Home Visits and Community Programs.

For Professionals

Karitane offers professional development and training to healthcare professionals including nurses, psychologists, nannies, childcare workers and others across Australia. Our leadership in education also includes the delivery of parent-child interaction therapy training (PCIT), family partnership training, and specialised workshops, on sleep and settling, toddlers and brain development. Karitane is involved in developing and deploying latest research to ensure all evidence based programs are up to date.

Supporting Parents at Work

Supporting Parents Benefiting Business is a Karitane service working with organisations providing practical and professional advice, education, and support to employees and managers navigating the challenge of balancing parenting and career. This support is delivered in flexible formats to help organisations improve diversity and return to work, improve employee wellbeing, reduce stress and absenteeism, reduce staff turnover and maximise employee focus and productivity.
