Clinical Coordinator Perinatal, Infant and Child Mental Health Services (PICMHS)         

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Clinical Coordinator who will provide management of the clinical flow for families into and through the intensive perinatal, infant and child mental health services provided at Karitane. The primary function of this role is to support the Manager Mental Health with the day to day operational management and coordination of clinical services across Karitane’s intensive mental health services. The role includes triaging and allocating referrals, chairing intake meetings, leadership for care planning, review and discharge processes and where indicated, overseeing collaborative review of complex cases and transfer and escalation of care. Integral to the role is management of the waitlists and assisting clinical staff with clinical management processes.

This is a truly once in a lifetime opportunity to work with the National Perinatal Infant Mental Health Connect & Care Team engaged in the implementation and ongoing development of a new, exciting and highly impactful care navigation service with a leading non-profit parenting support service provider and experienced consortium members. In an Australian-first, Perinatal Infant Mental Health place-based navigators will be triaging and coordinating referrals from around the country, ensuring expansive local knowledge and subsequent location-specific support pathways. The Aboriginal Liaison Officer will support the Perinatal Infant Mental Health Care Navigators, Administrative team, National Perinatal Infant Mental Health Director and Australasian Association of Parenting and Child Health colleagues to connect Aboriginal families to perinatal infant mental health services that best meet their needs.

Perinatal Psychologist/Mental Health Social Worker

Our specialist perinatal (conception to one year postpartum) clinicians provide a wide range of individual, couple and parent-infant therapies to women and their partners. In addition to pre-conception counselling, we offer services to those experiencing, or at risk of developing, perinatal depressive, anxiety and trauma or stressor-related disorders. Support is also provided to women and their partners who have experienced a pregnancy or childbirthrelated loss, e.g. stillbirth, miscarriage or termination.

Social Worker Level 1-2

The role of the Social Worker is to provide a comprehensive clinical service for clients accessing the Virtual Residential Parenting Services.  These services include one to one counselling, crisis intervention, couple counselling, group work, family work in the context of complex issues, psychosocial assessment and mental health management, early intervention and follow-up with community referral services.  Overall client care is administered in consultation with the Unit Manager and Manager Mental Health around complex families, mental health and early intervention. This position is temporary part-time till June 2024, 16 hours per week.
