Family Support Worker - Father Inclusion (Village Connect)

Village Connect is a pilot project funded by DCJ, under the Investment Approach for Social Impact Strategy (IAFSIS). Karitane, Uniting and Sonder, provide holistic, wrap around supports to people pregnant or parenting, living in SWS with a child in the first 2000 days. Our priority is to meet parents where they are on their parenting journey in a judgement free and f lexible manner. Trust building for sustained engagement is a priority for our entire team. The Village Connect team is expanding and one of our focus areas will be to increase father engagement. Services are predominantly accessed by women, and we would like to change this, increasing the number of fathers receiving supports so we can have greater holistic impact, improving outcomes for families in Southwest Sydney

The Family Support Worker role will be passionate, leading father-inclusive health education and community engagement strategies across Southwest Sydney. The role will focus on building fathers confidence and parenting skills, fostering community connection, and strengthening partnerships with services that support dads. The role will also contribute to Karitane's Father Inclusive Practice Working Group, embedding best-practice approaches and collaborative ways of working across Karitane Services.

**This position requires travel to locations within Southwest Sydney 

Status: Part Time, Fixed Term, 16 Hours a week (2 days) until 30th June 2026 (with potential for possible extension)

Village Connect Community and Family Connector

Village Connect is a pilot project funded by DCJ, under the Investment Approach for Social Impact Strategy. Karitane, and partners, Uniting and Sonder, have been providing holistic, wrap around supports to people pregnant or parenting, living in Southwest Sydney since commencement in 2023. Our priority is to meet parents where they are on their parenting journey in a judgement free and flexible manner. Trust building for sustained engagement is a priority for our team.

The model is delivered through a multidisciplinary, cross-agency partnership and aims to enhance collaboration across the entire service system. The Community and Family Connector will be responsible for mapping the current SWS service sector to identify and create opportunities to embed Village Connect Supports and partners for greater outcomes for families. This will include outreach work, running meetings, consultations, workshops and training with internal and external stakeholders including parents and children. In addition, this position will work with the multidisciplinary Village Connect team and families directly to support internal (broader Karitane) and external referral pathways, involved from intake through to exit in some cases.

We are looking for a confident and articulate communicator who is passionate about working in innovative ways to ensure all parents can access services. We are looking for someone with experience in the Child and Family sector, working with families and as a professional have worked collaboratively and in partnership with external agencies.

Village Connect Team Leader 

Village Connect is a pilot project funded by DCJ, under the Investment Approach for Social Impact Strategy (IAFSIS). Karitane, Uniting and Sonder, provide holistic, wrap around supports to people pregnant or parenting, living in SWS with a child in the first 2000 days. Our priority is to meet parents where they are on their parenting journey in a judgement free and flexible manner. Trust building for sustained engagement is a priority for our entire team. The Village Connect Team Lead will work alongside our current Team Leader (of supports for parents 25y and younger) to provide oversight of the clinical flow of families into and through the stepped care programs provided. The primary function is to support the Program Lead with the day-to-day operational management and coordination of services. This includes triaging and allocating referrals, escalating complex cases, providing leadership and support to the Village Connect team (for parents over the age of 25years), managing the waitlist in partnership with the consortium and assisting staff with family management plans. The TL will support, mentor and coach a multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for someone that is passionate about coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff in a tailored way that builds on individual strengths and goals. They demonstrate strong values of collaboration and partnership, which are reflected in their work and approach. They are agile and flexible in their thinking and outputs, with the ability to guide teams through consultative change to enhance client outcomes. They are also committed to embedding and combining client voices and data to effectively demonstrate outcomes. A current Class C licence is required.
