Our residential stays offer a 3 and 4 night inpatient service to families in NSW experiencing significant parenting challenges. Unique to Karitane Carramar, we cater to children 0-4 years of age and support families in a holistic approach with facilities to accommodate families with two or more children and where your partner is encouraged to stay or visit as frequently as possible.

Residential Services

Our team of Registered Nurses, Clinical Psychologists and Social Workers work with families using a model called Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).  PCIT is based on play and aims to increase positive behaviours and reduce the negative behaviours of your toddler by strengthening the parent-child relationship and giving you some strategies to better manage your child.

We are excited to announce our specialised toddler clinic is now offering Parent Child Interaction Therapy to families across NSW using video based teleconferencing.

Internet-PCIT

A NEW service providing you with support and education from the comfort of your home. Using a computer or smartphone you now can access 2 hour individual consultations with a Karitane child and family health nurse for parenting challenges such as; sleeping and settling, feeding, toddler behaviour, adjustment to parenting and postnatal depression and anxiety.

Virtual Home Visits

Are you, or someone you know, feeling overwhelmed, worried or sad either during pregnancy or soon after the birth of a baby? If so, this could be Perinatal Mood Disorder (PMD). PMD is very common – one in five women and one in ten men experience it as new parents. However help is at hand because Karitane has a great wealth of experience helping families in this situation.

Do you have a parenting question about your 0 – 5 year old child? When you call Karitane Careline a friendly and experienced Child and Family Health Nurse will support you with guidance and encouragement on your parenting journey.

The reflexes of newborn babies often startle them easily and tend to wake them during sleep. Many parents have found that wrapping babies until they’re three to four months old (the time when these reflexes begin to disappear) helps reduce strong startle reactions and improves sleep.
